Maudie Elaine Watson, age 82, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away Saturday morning, January 6, 2024, at her residence.
Born on November 19, 1941, in Maury County, Tennessee, Maudie was the daughter of the late James Matthew Beard and the late Maude Thurman Beard.
She cherished her travels to the beach and Graceland, and she enjoyed attending concerts at the Lawrence County Fair. A talented cook with a great fondness in watching old westerns, Maudie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Jim Rich of Columbia, son, Jeffery (Delta) Ambrose of Culleoka, TN, daughters, Sheila (David) Smithson of Spring Hill, TN, Sherry (James) Pratt of Culleoka, TN, Ina Joy Bevis of Lawrenceburg, TN, sister, Charlotte Radar of Columbia, TN, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Watson, and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Matt Beard officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com
Pallbearers will be Devin Smithson, Kayla Pratt, Leon Perry, Eric Perry, J.R. Pratt, and John Paul Pratt.
Honorary pallbearers will include Derek Smithson, Levi Perry, and Eli Perry.
