Michael Franklin McClain – Born July 24, 1953, in Louisville, KY, Michael Franklin McClain was the youngest son of Roy and Helen McClain. He was called from labor to reward on October 22, 2025 in Columbia, TN at Maury Regional Hospital. His keen intelligence and skills began blossoming during his years in Chicago where he won first place in the district science fair twice and excelled in speed skating.

He graduated from Seneca High School in Louisville in 1971. He went on to attend the University of Louisville to study Liberal Arts. Michael built a foundation for a life of diverse achievement. He began a 26-year career at LG&E, starting as a lineman and retiring from the electric troubleshooting department. Later, answering a deep call to faith, he graduated from Simmons Bible College, became an ordained minister serving as an associate minister at Green Castle Baptist Church. Ever the student, he pursued a third career, earning an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, working as a registered nurse at the University of Louisville & Jewish Hospital.

Michael lived a life defined by curiosity, service, and an infectious, generous spirit. He was a devoted family man, minister, nurse, farmer, and lifelong learner who connected with people wherever he went. He was a man of extraordinary intellect, boundless curiosity, and unwavering faith. His presence touched countless hearts and he, along with his wit, stories, charm and laughter will be profoundly missed.

His final chapter in Columbia, TN, was marked by devotion as he cared for his mother and embraced a new career as a farmer.

Michael gave tirelessly, volunteering in churches across the community—teaching Sunday school and bible study, ushering, working in the kitchen, and preaching. In his later years in Columbia his worshipped with Grace United M. B. Church and later joined with Faith United M. B. Church.

Michael participated in Civil War reenactments with the Sons of Union Veterans and would light up the room on any dance floor.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen McClain, and his brother, Walter McClain.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Mika McClain (Haven) son, Michael Ashley Brown; step daughter Denise Brown; five beloved grandchildren, Dominique (Kentiana), Marley, Dion, DaMichael, and Drucilla; his brothers, Robert McClain Sr. (Felicia) and John McClain; Sister-in-Law Monica McClain and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he profoundly touched.
