OBITUARY: Norma Sue ‘Luther’ Barnett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma Sue “Luther” Barnett on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Columbia, Tennessee.

Luther was born on August 8th, 1957, in Columbia and was the beloved daughter of the late Harold Grooms and Jessie Dugger Grooms.

Throughout her career, Luther dedicated herself to being a housekeeper for nursing homes and took great pride in keeping a clean home, no matter how she felt. On her days of relaxation, she enjoyed sitting on the bank fishing.

Luther’s family meant the world to her. She was a devoted mother to her children, Shana Bratton and Dustin Bradford, and grandmother to her grandchildren, Austin Bratton and Camden Bratton. She was also a loving aunt to her nephew, Christopher Prince. Norma was always eager to help and attend every event she could for her children and grandchildren.

Luther will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Luther was preceded in death by her sister, Helen “Sally” Parfrey.

She will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM with one hour of visitation prior. Bro. Randy Kersey will be officiating. To follow, Luther will be laid to rest at the Polk Memorial Mausoleum.

Pallbearers are Chuck Parfrey, Chris Prince, Boo Boshers, James Bratton, Adam Spears, and Tommy King.

The care of Ms. Norma Sue Barnett and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home.
