Ophelia Ann Green Obit

Ophelia Ann Seiber Green, age 80, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on April 29, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1944, in Bruceton, Tennessee, to the late J.C. Seiber and Eliza Clay Seiber.

Ophelia faithfully served the people of Lewis County as Register of Deeds for 28 years. There, she easily earned the respect of colleagues and community members alike, which led to her career lasting until her retirement in 2010.

A longtime Hohenwald Church of Christ member, Ophelia found strength and comfort in her faith. Her church family was an important part of her life and a reflection of her quiet devotion.

She also had a fun-loving side. Ophelia enjoyed trips to Tunica and trying her luck at the penny slots, but what she treasured most was time spent with her grandchildren. They fondly remember Friday nights filled with fish plates, scary movies, and rounds of Nintendo—small traditions that became cherished memories.

Ophelia’s life was one of steady love, strong faith, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and joy that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

In addition to her parents, J.C. and Eliza, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years, L.E. Green; her son, Alton Charles “Buster” Sanders, Jr.; step-son, Roger Green; step-son-in-law, Charlie; and her brothers, David Andrew Seiber, Spanky Seiber, and Russell Etto Seiber.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Lori (Tony) Grillo; step-children, Steve Green, Terry (Michelle) Green, and Dianne Renkema; grandchildren, John Christopher (Brooke) Sanders, David Andrew (Amber) Sanders, Joseph Michael Sanders, Madison Ann (Will) Wisdom, Kayla Kelley, Michelle Moore, Corie Tubbs, and Dillon Grillo; great-grandchildren, Colby Aiden Sanders, Hazel Grayce Sanders, and Ryder Grillo.

Ophelia was blessed with the support of several special caregivers who gave their time, compassion, and friendship: Shannon, Mariah, Amanda, Diane, Ernestine, Beverly, and Linda. The Green family is forever grateful for the care and kindness they provided.

Visitation with Ophelia’s family will be on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Lewis County Memorial Gardens. McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Green family.
