Mrs. Polly Ann Trabue Halliday passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Wilkinson Halliday and her parents Thomas Malone and Martha Billington Trabue.

She is survived by her son, Edwin Wilkinson (Win) Halliday, Jr. (Sandy) and two grandchildren, Edwin Wilkinson (Wilks) Halliday, III, and Currey Pillow Halliday, and her brother, Thomas Malone Trabue, Jr. (Evelyn).

Polly Ann was raised in Nashville, attended Parmer School and graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1957, Polly Ann graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. While at Vanderbilt, she was a member of the Kapa Alpha Theta sorority.

She married her husband Wick Halliday in 1957, and moved to Columbia, Tennessee where she became a housewife, and he managed the family farm and together they raised their son Win.

Involved in the community, she was on the board of the James K. Polk Memorial Association and was active in United States Postal Service’s issuance of the James K. Polk commemorative stamp in 1995. Polly Ann was also active at Columbia Military Academy before its merger into Columbia Academy. She helped found the Academy Ball (currently known as the Maury County Benefit Ball) and served as its co-chair.

She belonged to the Volunteer Garden Club and was a member at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she served on the vestry. Much of her time in the summer was spent in Monteagle at the Assembly grounds there where she could be with family and friends.

The family would like to thank Wanda Morris and her family for the wonderful care they gave Polly Ann for the many years they were with her.

A visitation will be held in the Parish Hall at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Friday, December 2, from 12:30 until 1:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at St. John’s Churchyard at 2:00 pm conducted by Father Chris Bowhay. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
