Robbye Nell Anderson

Robbye Nell Anderson, age 92, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. James Gardner and Rev. Steve Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 10, 1930, in Mt. Joy, Tennessee, Robbye was the daughter of the late Joseph Moncy Anderson and the late Mary Thelma Stockard Anderson. She was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College. Robbye worked at Tennessee Farmers Insurance Company for fifteen years and later worked many years as a bookkeeper for Randolph & Williams, Inc. before retiring.

She was a longtime devoted member of Riverside United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and formerly served as the President. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, the Superintendent of Sunday School and the Finance Secretary of Sunday School. She loved watching baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Robbye also enjoyed reading, feeding and watching birds and watching neighborhood children play in the back yard.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Anderson, Glynn Anderson, Lynn Anderson, Mary Jo Kerr, Margaret Rochelle, niece, Connie Gilliam, nephew, Roy Anderson, and lifetime friend, Jean Hewgley.

Pallbearers will be Doug Anderson, Michael Anderson, Terry Anderson, Eddie Kerr, James Rochelle, and Tim Rochelle. Honorary pallbearers will include Corey Anderson, Christopher Crumley, Clark Franklin, J.B. Long, M.T. Potts, Michael Williams, longtime friends, Joyce Cranford, Pam Hickman, and the past members of the Tuesday Circle at Riverside United Methodist Church.
