Mr. Robert “Bob” C. Tillis, age 90, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on December 12, 1931, in Toronto, Ohio, Bob was the son of the late George Herbert Tillis and the late Ruth Ann Armour Tillis.
He was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and former member of First United Methodist Church. He was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a fifty-year life member of Lodge 31 in Columbia. He was also a life member of ABBA Shriners in Mobile, Alabama and a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 in Columbia.
Bob was a volunteer in the Maury Regional Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary for twenty years. He served three and a half years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by his son, Bobby (Marti) Tillis of Columbia, TN, daughter, Deborah Ann (David) Balogh of Taylor, MI, grandchildren, David Balogh, Shelly Balogh, step-grandchildren, Timothy (Amber) Warren, Cameron Robertson, Bradley Lindsay, great-grandchildren, Alexandros Balogh, Zofia Balogh, Layla Balogh, Harper Warren, Carson Wayne Lindsay, and Keoki Robertson, and first cousin, Patricia Ulam.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with LJ Ciolkosz officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
