Roger Dale Rowland, age 69, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at his home.
Born on June 1, 1953, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Roger was the son of the late John Rowland and the late Doris Espenschied Rowland. He served in the United States Navy for twenty years before retiring on June 1, 2008. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and often enjoyed tinkering on cars and working with his brother, Mike, as a mechanic. Above all, he loved his family, and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Travis (Jessica) Rowland of Columbia, TN, daughter, Erin (James) Burgess of Elizabeth City, NC, stepchildren, Stacy (Brad) Delaney of Spring Hill, TN, Dale Harding of Murfreesboro, TN, Josh Wetter of Virginia Beach, VA, brothers, Mike Rowland, William (Kelley) Rowland, sisters, Doris Ann (Johnny) Thomason, Rhonda (Tommy) Stanfill, Cherry Ellis, Sandra Watts (Danny Turner), and grandchildren, Jackson Rowland, Scarlett Rowland, Austin Burgess, Landon Burgess, Mason Burgess, Noah Burgess, Caiden Harding, Katelynn Delaney, and Oliver Delaney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Rowland on May 14, 2017, and brother, Johnny Rowland.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with military honors provided by the United States Navy. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
