Mr. Royce Russell, age 82, husband of Vonda Cassell Russell, and a resident of Columbia, went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2022.
Born on April 15, 1940, in Giles County, Tennessee, Royce was the son of the late William W. Russell and the late Opal L. Higgins Russell.
He married Vonda Cassell on June 16, 1962, and together they spent a wonderful sixty years. Royce worked for thirty years for Caterpillar, Inc before retiring in 1998. He was a member of First Family Baptist Church in Columbia for twenty-one years.
Royce was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved gardening, golfing, working outdoors, and he could build and fix anything. He had a special love for his faithful companion, Sparky, and they took many walks together the last nine years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Royce (JoAnna) Russell, Jr. of Columbia, TN, daughters, Angela (Steve) Molnar of San Antonio, TX, Deborah (John) Pace of Brentwood, TN, sister, Dorothy Musgrove, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Haley Russell, brothers, Willard Russell, Donald Russell, and sisters, Faye Underwood, Joyce Davis and Sandra Stafford.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 2:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Dawson officiating. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Royce Russell, Jr., John Pace, Conner Pace, Carter Pace, Caden Pace, and Colton Pace. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the Son Rise Sunday School Class.
