Steven M. Hernet, age 72, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, in Columbia, Tennessee from a lengthy battle of cancer.

Steven was born on December 27, 1952, to the late Stanely R. Hernet and Barbara A. Hernet in San Diego, CA at Marine Base Camp Pendleton.

He grew up in Morristown, NJ and moved to Florida after high School where he lived until 2010. Steve graduated from Bayley Ellard and University of Miami, where he met his wife of 39 years, Carol, and received a Bachelor Degree of Business. He had multiple jobs throughout his career from Manager of Radio Shack to finishing his career as a property appraiser. Steven was very passionate about his Miami Hurricanes and his family dogs, Rosie and Daisy.

Steve loved to travel with his wife from the Bahamas to Europe to roaming the country in their RV and University of Miami Bowl Games (Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl). He loved country music and visiting Nashville, TN to see many country singers in concert. He enjoyed trains, history, working on his property and having chocolate milk shakes with his only granddaughter. Steve and his wife, Carol W. Hernet retired from Lighthouse Pt. FL to Culleoka.

Steve is survived by his only daughter Christin (David) Morrison of Culleoka; only grand-daughter, Kirstin Morrison of Culleoka; sister Corinne Hernet of Columbia; nephews Corey McCormack of Morristown, New Jersey, Casey McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida, Sean Eckhardt of Naples, Florida, and Trent Eckhardt of Crystal Lake, Illinois; niece Brittany McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida; brother-in-law Brian McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida and sister-in-law Penny W. Eckardt of Naples, Florida.

He is preceded by his father Stanley R. Hernet, mother Barbara A. Hernet, sister Susan McCormack and wife Carol W. Hernet.

Heritage Funeral Home will be assisting the family with local arrangements and the family will have a memorial later in the year.
