Thomas “Tommy” Wayne Barnett, age 63, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, peacefully at home.
A native of Maury County, Tommy was born on September 17, 1959, and was the son of Wanda Barnett and the late Thomas Houston Barnett.
He worked over thirty years as an over the road truck driver. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf and watching football and Nascar. A great storyteller, Tommy loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pops.”
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Mandy Barnett of Columbia, Tiffany Barnett of Columbia, Thomas Barnett of Greenbrier, brother, Jimmy (Brenda) Glenn of Columbia, grandmother, Elizabeth Medkiff of Columbia, and grandchildren, Hunter (Akane), Jayston, Kyla, and Giona Barnett.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Tina Barnett.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Stevie Gunnels officiating. Burial will follow in Neapolis Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Erwin, Tony Williams, Micah Isabell, Mike “Buck” Weaver, Jacob Williams, and Marty Erwin.
