Mrs. Valencia Roxie Spencer, age 62, wife of Darnell Spencer, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 20, 1960, in Columbia, Roxie was the daughter of McKinley Jones and the late Anna Whitaker Batey.
She was a 1978 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College. She grew up going to Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and was most recently a member of Highland Church of Christ. She loved doing volunteer work for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Lions Club and the Red Hat Society. Roxie enjoyed horseback riding and doing water aerobics at the YMCA. She had a special love for her beloved dog, Misty Blue.
In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by her daughter, Chasity Timmons of Nashville, TN, brothers, Tony Jones of Denver, CO, Kenny Jones of Denver, CO, sister, Yolanda Batey of California, grandsons, Keydrion Timmons, Asavion Smith, and aunts and uncles, Michael (Deborah) Whitaker, Stephanie (Gary) Witherspoon, Lillian McFall, and Dorothy Polk.
Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dwight Davidson, Marvin Jones, grandparents, Elizabeth Whitaker, Rankin Whitaker, Lillian Jones, and uncles, Walter Whitaker, Robert Whitaker, James Whitaker, and William McFall.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Anderson officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
