Vincent DeVita, 78, of Columbia, TN, formerly of Union, KY and Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2025, after an extended illness. Whether you knew him as Vincent, Vince, or the ever-charismatic Vinny, however you knew him, you knew someone unforgettable.
Born on Long Island, NY, the son of Vincent & Stella DeVita, Vince graduated from Bay Shore High School in 1964 and married his wife Camille in 1986 in Island Park, NY. He was a devoted husband for over 40 years, and a loving father to Jessica and Giovanni. Vince never met a stranger. Faith, family and friends were always his top priorities as well as coaching baseball at St. Henry High School, Beechwood High School, and the Ky Colonels, while also giving private lessons. His hobbies included golf, cooking, and volunteering for the Kid Glove fundraising program, Special Olympics, and Sons of Italy; He always found joy in sharing these with his loved ones.
Vince worked for Pan Am Airlines and eventually retired from Delta Airlines after 40 years of service. Following his retirement, he devoted his time as a Recommending Scout for the Cincinnati Reds, the Reds RBI Academy and was involved with multiple Cincinnati Reds tryout camps. He also participated in the Tim Martin Baseball Showcase, Gene Bennett Baseball Classic, Florence Freedom bench coach and HITS Academy.
Remaining to cherish Vince’s memory are wife, Camille; son, Giovanni; daughter in-law Morgan and daughter, Jessica. Additionally, he is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Domenick, Gianna, Wells, and Willa. The legacy of his love and the memories created will be cherished by those who survive him, a testament to the beautiful life he led. Vince’s life was a beacon of love and devotion. He leaves behind a family that will continue to honor his memory and the values he represented.
A celebration of life will be held for our Kentucky and Ohio friends, on May 30th at Silverlake: The Family Place, located at 301 Kenton Lands Road, Erlanger, KY 41018, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Burial Services will be held in New York on June 6th at St. Charles Cemetery, located at 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735, starting at 12PM. Please RSVP.
