Wanda Ernestine Hudson, a lifelong resident of Hohenwald, passed away peacefully at the age of 75. Born on March 3, 1951, to Ernest Hendrix Luna and Wilton Virginia Ray, Wanda grew up in the area and attended Wayne County Schools. She was a hard worker who spent many years as a familiar face in our local factories, putting in the time as a dedicated general laborer.
On June 13, 1970, Wanda married Jimmy Hudson. For decades, they were rarely seen apart-they truly were each other’s best friends. Whether they were out on the town or just sitting together at home, they simply enjoyed being in each other’s company. Many in the community might remember them from the years they spent running the local drive-in theater for the Pollocks. After Jimmy passed in 2016, Wanda’s world grew a little quieter, but she filled her time with the memories they made and the family they built.
Wanda found happiness in the simple things: a sugar-free, caffeine-free Coke, a good meal at Red Lobster, or a banana popsicle on a warm day. But nothing topped being a grandmother. She was the ultimate “spoiler,” making sure her house was always stocked with Funyons and fruit snacks for the kids. If her grandkids were involved in a game, a race, or any school event, you could bet Wanda would be there in the stands, cheering them on.
She leaves behind a big, loving family: her daughters, Melody (David) Jackson and Carol (Llew) Brown; Brother-in-law Billy Wayne (Gaye) Hudson and his family; eight grandchildren, Chanda (Jason) Graves, Kayla (TJ) Hinson, TJ (Shayla) Taylor, Heather (Jason) Brewer, Jessica Anthony, Keith (Jennifer) Brown, Daniel (Tiara) Rumbaugh, and Hudson (Sydney) Brown; 22 great-grandchildren; her grandson-in-love, Ty Bledsoe; and her dear friends, Kaye Wise, Peggy Cagle, and Patsy James.
Wanda is now reunited with her father, Ernest Luna; her mother, Wilton Ray Fuhrman; her husband, Jimmy Hudson; her daughter, Sonya Rumbaugh; and her special friend, Debbie Barnes.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, March 30, from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald, TN. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 31, beginning at 11:00 AM, with burial to immediately follow in Lewis County Memorial Gardens.
McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hudson family.
