Mr. Wayne G. Patterson, 73, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at his residence on Hampshire Pike.

Born in Columbia, Tennessee, on July 29, 1949, he was the son of Arch and Joyce Patterson.

Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war and previously served as constable and commissioner for the Maury County Seventh District. He was a retired utility inspector for the City of Spring Hill. He was a member of the Post 19 American Legion and a former president of the Tennessee Cattleman’s Association.

Wayne was a faithful servant of God. He was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene, serving on the church board and helping with the operations of the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Whitney Patterson, of Murfreesboro; one sister, Brenda Patterson, of Hermitage; two brothers, Michael (Diane) Patterson, Steve (Deb) Patterson of Columbia; two nephews; one niece; and seven great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Foster Patterson, and his father, Arch G. Patterson.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Lang Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, as well as two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Keith Odell, Chester (CH) Hutchinson, Jerry Atkinson, Shannon Seaman, Steve Baker, Jimmy Damron, Jeff Foster, and Mike Floyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Patterson, Matt Patterson, Mike Bolton, Michael Webster, Mike (Mo) Webster, Ricky Webster, Rob Norton, Carl Brooks, Don Howell, Ashley Brown, Jim Baker, Mike Jernigan, Don Morrow, Preston Murrey, Wesley Uptain, Alex Seaman, Kenny Springer, Mike Burek, Wayne Harris, Frank Poling, Billy Johnson, John Church, and members of The First Church of the Nazarene, and caregivers Dr. David Huneycutt, Dr. Chris Jones, and the staff at Centennial Heart, and his friends at the Loafing Barn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International P.O. Box 1764, Columbia, TN 38402. Donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 6034 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.
