OBITUARY: Zelbert Potts


Zelbert Potts, age 85, a longtime resident of Columbia and most recently of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on July 30, 2023, at his residence.

Born March 16, 1938, in Williamson County, he was the son of the late Ellis and Mildred Luckett Potts and the husband of Marie Stanfill Potts.

He worked in advertising with the billboard posters and owned his own tree service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially teaching the grandchildren. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Dallas Keith (Karrie) Potts of Ashland City; daughter: Renee (Larry) Lorance of Cullman, AL; brothers: Ronald (Barbara) Potts of Joelton, James “Calvin” Potts and Lloyd Potts, both of Nashville; grandchildren: Rick Potts, Ryan Potts, Stephanie Lorance and Amie Lorance; great-grandchildren: Derrick Potts, Alyssa Potts, Hannah Potts, Rowan Potts, Ryker Lorance and Wayland Lorance.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Potts and his brothers, Jimmy Potts and Donald Potts.

Funeral services for Mr. Potts will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 3rd in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Peace at Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 2nd at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Gary Potts, Jimmy Kelly, Ricky Potts, Ryan Potts, Derrick Potts and Dewey Potette.
