Emergency crews responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on I-65 Southbound at mile marker 36 just after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. The crash involved a head-on collision that left one person trapped inside a vehicle.
Units were dispatched to the scene at 3:08 p.m. Rescue personnel quickly worked to extricate the trapped driver, but the individual was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for roughly one hour as emergency personnel worked the scene and cleared the roadway. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
