Ms. Carlene June Cater, 79, a resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
The family will visit with friends Saturday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on Friday, September 24th at 12:00 p.m. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born May 20, 1942 to the late Willis Tryon and the late Helen Tryon in Mansfield, Ohio. Carlene was a hardworking beloved employee at CPS Corporation for 25 years. She was a loving and caring mother, grandma, and great-grandma to all of her family. She enjoyed front porch sitting, getting her hair and nails done, going to church, taking vacations and most of all spending time with her loved ones and fur babies.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Cater and Tony Cater (Ryan Rozycki); daughters, Kimberly (Juan) Munoz and Kathy (Mario) Velazquez; twin sister, Marlene (Robert) Hoffman, sisters, Barb (Jud) Schaefer, Peggy Ritter, and Debbie (Bruce) Pugh; brothers, Larry (Rose) Tryon and John Tryon; grandchildren, Stephanie (Barry) McClelland, Heather Cater, Kelly Cater (Melvin Ambrocio), Mario (Zuly) Cater, Maria (Martese) Robinson, Lazaro Oscura, Franciso Oscura, Anthony Velazquez (Jocelyn Velazquez); 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Teddy Cater; sisters, Mary Kay, Pat Foley, Joyce Nichols, Nancy Smith, Gayle Tryon; brothers, Bill Tryon, Dan Tryon, Bob Tryon, and Dennis Tryon; and nephew, Bob Hoffman.
