Marvin Melvin Stewart, age 54, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 23, 1970, in Sioux City, Iowa, Marvin was the son of the late David Stewart and the late Judith Childs Stewart. He spent over three decades working as a master carpenter and a skilled stone and brick mason with James and Brad Cleary.
On July 1, 2003, he married the love of his life, Anita McCormick Stewart. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in deer and duck hunting, guiding others as a wilderness instructor, and searching for arrowheads. He also had a passion for raising and training hunting dogs.
Marvin previously participated in the Cub Scouts and coached little league baseball. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, “Pepaw,” brother, and friend—someone who consistently put others before himself and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Drew Scott (Whitney) Stewart, Lauren Hali (Quinton Norwood) McCormick, Joseph David Stewart, Hunter Dean Stewart, Travius Cooper, siblings, David (Sondra) Stewart, Jay (Kristi) Stewart, Jamie Stewart, grandchildren, Ja’Marian Norwood, Jaceyon Norwood, Allyana Norwood, mother in law, Eunita Woodall, sisters in law, Mindi McCormick, Theresa McCormick, and beloved nieces and nephews, Ronin Stewart, Katherine Jeans, Michael Fox, Jr., and Mavin Stewart.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Veronica Carpenter, father in law, Jimmy Woodall, and sister in law, Trilene McCormick.
