The City of Columbia is deeply saddened by the passing of former Mayor Dean Dickey. A veteran, father, grandfather, and friend, Dean Dickey devoted many years of his life to serving the Columbia community.
His service to the City began in 2008 when he was elected to the Columbia City Council. In 2010, he was elected Mayor, a role he held for two terms until 2019. Throughout his time in office, Mayor Dickey was a steady and committed leader who worked tirelessly to move Columbia forward.
One of his many lasting and meaningful contributions is Ridley Sports Complex. Championship Field within the park was recently named in his honor to recognize his instrumental role in bringing the entire sports complex to life, an investment that continues to benefit residents and visitors alike.
Dean Dickey was a true public servant whose leadership and love for Columbia left an enduring mark on the city and its citizens. The positive impact he made in this community will continue to be felt for generations to come.
