On Monday at 4:39 PM, fire units responded to Scott Hollow Road for a hay bale that had caught fire. The quick actions of the farmer, who used water on site, helped save the hay baler from burning.
Engine 23 and Brush 26 remained on scene for almost two hours to unroll the burning bale and allow it to safely burn off. Fire officials noted that once hay bales catch fire, they must be spread out and burned completely, as they can’t be fully extinguished with water alone.
Thanks to teamwork between the farmer and firefighters, the incident was contained without further damage.
