Michael L. Clark is the author of The Shimmering Trilogy. This series allows the reader to explore what it might be like to live on the Natchez Trail in the early 1800s. His first two books: The Shimmering and The Diary of Gus Childers, left his readers begging for more.
A long-time resident of Middle Tennessee and Columbia, he spends much of his free time exploring historical places throughout the Southeastern part of the country. With each journey, he discovers new intriguing material to research for upcoming books.

2‘Second Saturdays’ at The Factory

This Saturday, January 13, is the first “second Saturday” of 2024. And that means a big celebration at The Factory at Columbia.

Second Saturdays is a re-occurring event each month, showcasing artisans, crafters, bakers and other creative local talent.

The event takes place Saturday, January 13 from 11am – 3pm.

3Natchez Trace VIP Wine Trail Tour

A one of a kind experience! You and your friends will ride in style to all 4 wineries on the Natchez Trace Wine Trail. You will start at Grinder’s Switch Winery in downtown Columbia, TN and then head over to Keg Springs Winery, Amber Falls Winey and Natchez Hills Winery in Hampshire, TN. Each location will provide a VIP wine tasting where you will get to sample the best each winery has to offer. This VIP tour includes transportation, a complimentary Charcuterie box to take with you, drinks and snacks for the journey, tasting fees at all 4 wineries and a complimentary Natchez Trace Wine Trail wine glass

Jump Start your paddling season. Learn to kayak or improve your kayaking skills this winter while dreaming of warm summer paddling.

This is an indoor class utilizing the pool at Muletown Rec in Columbia, TN. The first half of the session is classroom based and will cover these and other topics: PFDs (lifejackets), safety equipment, weather/water considerations, and trip planning. The second half of the session is in the pool with a focus on strokes and self-rescue. This is a great opportunity to learn and practice these kayaking skills in clean, clear water and a controlled environment.
The class uses a challenge by choice philosophy so if you are not comfortable getting in the water or practicing a particular skill just let your instructor know.

Minimum Age is 10 years old.

Cost of Class: $100 per person. This includes classroom instruction, kayaks for the pool session, use of the pool for the class, and pool instruction. Lunch is not provided.
