The City of Columbia is notifying residents that the Mt. Olivet Bridge will close beginning Monday, July 13, due to structural concerns.
City leaders say the bridge replacement is part of a Tennessee Department of Transportation project that is currently scheduled for 2029 and funded by the State of Tennessee.
Because of the impact the closure could have on traffic and local travel, Columbia has asked TDOT to explore ways to speed up the project timeline.
The city says it will continue working with TDOT and will provide updates as more information becomes available regarding detour routes, construction schedules and the overall project timeline.
Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and allow for extra travel time while the bridge remains closed.
The City of Columbia said it appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during the closure.
