Archie “Bubba” Russell Jr. 76, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and family gone before him on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Bubba was born June 8, 1946 and was one of eight children of the late Archie “Dutch” Russell Sr. & Laura Harris Russell.
Bubba was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy and fought for his country in Vietnam. Bubba worked 41 years and retired from Vaught Aircraft Industries. After retirement, he worked for his son, Keith Russell at Grand Fire Protection, then for Williamson County Highway Department.
Bubba enjoyed driving his John Deere tractor and farming. He took pride in taking care of his garden, mowing his grass, and spending time with his family. He loved to sing gospel music. He loved to make it known that he was living in love with his wife, Sue. Bubba was a great storyteller; he would tell his grandchildren stories about his childhood farming life.
He was blessed to marry the love of his life and soulmate, Sue (Gordon) Russell, on July 25, 1970. Together they built a life of love with three children, Eric Russell, Keith (Tammy) Russell, and Susan (Kevin) Pewitt; grandchildren, Austin Russell, Alex (Lexie) Russell, Andy (Leah) Russell, Allison Pewitt, and Brooklyn Pewitt; great-grandchildren, Ella Grey, his namesake: Archie, and Axel Russell; siblings, Jeanetta (Johnny) Tomlin, Clayton (Rachel) Russell, John (Brenda) Russell, Jan Kilgore, Beth (Jim) Richardson; sisters-in-law, Blanche Russell and Shirley Russell; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Kirby in 1977, Houston and Jerry in 2021; and brother-in-law, Jim Kilgore.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin, Tennessee with Donald Lovvorn and Jonathan Lovvorn officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery in Primm Springs. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
