Billy Eugene Williams, Sr., age 88, resident of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Billy was born June 15, 1934 in Columbia, Tennessee and was the son of the late Orange Williams and the late Elizabeth Ann Armstrong Williams.
He was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Billy was a people person and always joking. He loved being around people. He also was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Billy E. Williams, Jr. (Teresa McCoy) of Columbia, TN and Jeff Roach of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Laesha Williams, Jasmine Roach, Flora Lee Roach, and Poncho; and two great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his siblings, James Williams, Dorothy Williams, Elnora Redding, Rosa Jenkins, Herald Williams, and Randolph Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 25th at 1:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Kenny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy. A lie in state will be held on Wednesday, May 24th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
