Mr. Carl Gunnar Goranson, age 89, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 24, 1933, in Wadena, Minnesota, Carl was the son of the late Lars Gunnar Alfons Goranson and the late Pauline Marguerite Leksell Goranson.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked as a transmission engineer for General Telephone Electric before he retired. He married Doris Jean Noecker on September 5, 1959; she preceded him in death on December 1, 1997. Carl was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Spring Hill.
He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Ann Goranson of Columbia and Sonia Findley of Columbia, grandchildren, Matthew and Danielle Findley, nieces, Kathy O’Brien, Rachel Ashton, and nephew, Vance Buckreus.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Buckreus, Mona Carpenter, and Paul Goranson.
He will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
