Clara Jean Curry Obit

Clara Jean Curry, 89, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Hendersonville, TN surrounded by love. She was born on January 12, 1936, in Cullman County, Alabama to the late Leacelle Felix and Alma Jane Foust Griffin.

Ms. Curry was a talented seamstress, a caregiver who loved to babysit, and a wonderful cook whose meals were the heart of many family gatherings. For twenty years, she dedicated time to the Lewis County Food Bank, embodying the spirit of community service. A woman of faith, she found joy in listening to gospel music and gracefully played the piano at the Baptist church.

She exhumed love and kindness to all; she was a wonderful mother to her four children. Her commitment to her beliefs shone through her longtime Lomax Church of Christ membership.

In addition to her parents, Leacelle Felix and Alma Jane, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Willie “J.W” Curry; and her sister, Christine Kreps.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved children, Michael Curry, James David (Tomika) Curry, Pamela Annette (James) Beasley, and Sharon (Mike) Lyle; her brothers, Glen Griffin, Cecil Griffin, Dwight Griffin, and Mary Jo Butts; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Ms. Curry will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Lomax Cemetery. Greg Mullinicks will officiate. She will be laid to rest there beside her husband, J.W.
