Clarence Robert “Bob” Belt, age 94, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at his residence.

Born on October 13, 1928, in Robertson County, Tennessee, Bob was the son of the late Clarence Thomas “CT” Belt and the late Etta Cook Belt.

He married the love of his life, Joyce, in 1949, and together they enjoyed every precious moment of sixty-six years together. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2015.

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church where he was actively involved in the Bus Ministry. He began working for Bellsouth in 1951 and retired from there in 1987 as a supervisor. After retiring, he worked ten years as an over the road truck driver for Palmer Gregory.

Many years ago, Bob and his wife were active in western square dancing and were recognized by receiving the “Furthest From Home” award at the Frontier Days Square Dancing Club in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He enjoyed repairing lawnmowers and mowing the grass for others.

Above all of his accomplishments, his biggest one was the love he had for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Pamela Belt of Columbia, Mike (Janet) Belt of Columbia, Stephanie (Eddie) Allred of Culleoka, and John Mark (Janice) Belt of Pulaski; brother, Johnny Belt of Hendersonville, sisters, Noreen Fisher of Springfield, Juanita Johnson of Springfield, Phyllis Curtis of Springfield, grandchildren: Randy Thompson, Benjamin (Tiffany) Thompson, Brian (Rachel) Allred, David (Holly) Belt, Brent (Carmen) Allred, Kim (Derek) Rosa, Andrew (Kaila) Belt, and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lafern Martin.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Blevins and Bob Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Andrew Belt, Brent Allred, Brian Allred, Randy Thompson, Benjamin Thompson, David Belt, and Derek Rosa.
