Marvin-Fautt

Marvin Fautt, age 90, known by most as “Pop”, a long-time resident of Iron Bridge Road in Columbia, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Born on February 6, 1932 in Columbia, Marvin was the son of the late Andrew Jack Cummins and the late Martha Fautt Gibson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Alma Jean Roberts Fautt in 2000, and brother, Harold Fautt.

Marvin worked at the Foremost Dairy Plant, the State Highway Department and as a heavy equipment mechanic for TVA. He farmed on the side, raising tobacco, cows and always a big garden. Marvin loved to watch westerns on TV, he was a huge Nascar fan, attending many races in Bristol, but his favorite hobby was fishing. He always loved to wet a line.

His greatest joy in life was his grandkids and he loved them abundantly. They all grew up riding around in his old farm truck with him teaching them things in life they would have never known otherwise. He taught his only grandson Chad lots of things that he will always cherish and they had a special bond. Marvin was called Pop by his grandkids and great-grandkids and soon thereafter become Pop by most that knew him.

He had a great love for his family and always made sure that they knew that. He made family his first priority. He was happy that all three of his children moved back and were living on the farm with him where they grew up. He was the one that everyone went to when they needed anything fixed. His mind worked a little different than most and he could rig things like no one else. There was rarely anything he couldn’t do. He spent countless hours piddling in his shop and you could always find him because you could hear him whistling before you got to him.

Until the last month he has been restoring his 1957 Chevy and it saddens us that he never got to ride in it. He was definitely a classic and will be missed by so many. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children: Dwight (Pat) Fautt, Glenn Fautt, Ginger (Roger) Branson, all of Columbia; grandchildren: Leslie (Rob) Milner of Mt. Juliet, Naqunia Brannon of Unionville, Chelsea (Carson) Woody and Chad (Sabrina) Mills of Culleoka; step-grandchildren: Beth Brumit and Brandon (Allison) Harris of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Austin (Taylor) Cagle, Tatan Cagle, Lexie Cagle of Unionville, Will and Avery Milner of Mt. Juliet, Gunner and Linlee Jo Mills, Lane and due in March Rhett Woody of Culleoka; step-great-grandchildren, Emma (Jacob) Moore of Santa Fe and Abby Brumit, Tommy and Lauren Harris of Columbia; great-great grandson, Waiks Cagle; step-great-great children Cooper Moore and Hensley Brumit. His dog Zoe was very special to him as well following him everywhere he went.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 12:00-1:00 prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Hubert Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be: Chad Mills, Austin Cagle, Tatan Cagle, Carson Woody, Jeff Richards and Dean Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1796, Columbia, TN 38402-1796. He loved his church family.
