Cletis was raised by his parents and late grandparents, Eddie and Viola Wilkes growing up in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

He attended Mt. Pleasant Schools and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1981. He attended Mt Nebo MB Church Sunday School in his early years. After graduating from high school, Cletis was a long time Employee of Heil Quaker in Lewisburg Tennessee where he became certified in brazing welding until the plant closed. He then worked for Interco Printing and IB Tech in Mt Pleasant until his health failed.

An avid lover of music and SEC football, he maintained tickets to the SEC championship game in Atlanta for over 20 years attending with family as a yearly outing. He was a fan of Vanderbilt and especially Alabama football. “Roll Tide” He was also a fan of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic music often called P-Funk. His favorite radio station was 104.5 The Zone where he kept up with all sports.

He loved to post pictures on Facebook and if you did not watch out, he would steal your pictures and pretend they were his own. He was frequently seen “taking a block” in Mt. Pleasant with his mom, cousin, or friends. Cletis loved to eat especially hamburgers (White Castles), steak, all things beef, fish, BBQ, ice-cream, and pound cake.

He was a kind person who loved people and loved doing things for those in need. He was full of humor, the life of family gatherings, laid back, stubborn at times. He loved being with his family. He was particularly good at respectfully and kindly doing things his way.
