Floyd C. (Cal) Hicks, age 85, husband of Bernadette Hicks and a resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on March 3, 1937, Cal was the son of the late Floyd C. Hicks, Sr., and the late Hazel (Sibary) Hicks.
Cal graduated with the highest honors from Thornton High School in Thornton, Illinois. On June 28, 1972, he married Bernadette Hinton. Cal was an accomplished musician, especially the saxophone. He honorably served his country in the United States Marines from 1955 until 1961. He was also a retiree from Bell South.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Calvin (Cal) and Julia Hicks of California, his daughter, Tami (John) Sova of Pulaski, Tennessee, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Dean Hicks
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Family Church with Pastor Carol Jacobs and Pastor Don Ritchie officiating. A visitation will also be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com
Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will include all members of Trinity Family Church.
