Gary “Scooter” McKennon, Jr. age 33, left this world too soon on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Scooter was born on September 29, 1989, to Deborah Ann Couch McKennon and the late Gary Lee McKennon, Sr. in Columbia, Tennessee.
Scooter was a dedicated hard worker; some would even say a workaholic. He took pride in an honest day’s work. He was the Owner and Operator of McKennon Concrete and Excavating.
Scooter was a person to always lend a hand when someone was in need. He was a great friend to have around. He was a wonderful husband and father, who loved his family dearly.
They will treasure all the memories they shared while coon, turkey, and deer hunting, fishing, and riding horses.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Courtney Denea McKennon, and son, Presley Lain McKennon; mother: Debbie McKennon; sisters: Lesa McKennon, Mindy Staggs, and Kristin (Scott) Hall; nephew: Cameron Staggs; niece: Danika Hall; uncle: Michael “Moochie” (Kathy) McKennon; aunt: Donna (Johnny) Potts; and several more aunts and uncles; and close friend: Chad Morton.
He is preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents: J.L. and Ruth McKennon; maternal grandparents: Lucille Ragsdale and Gooch Shaffer; and brother-in-law: Jay Staggs.
The family will be receiving friends and visitors at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 PM, with one hour of visitation prior. Dickey Lindsey will be officiating. To follow, Scooter will be laid to rest next to his father at Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chad Morton, Steven “Juju” Boshers, Justin Boshers, Bradley Boshers, Michael Davis, Matt Gattlin, Jeff Ragsdale, Tyler Shaffer, and Presley McKennon.
