Glenn Daniel “Danny” Grooms, age 78, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee.

Danny was born June 28, 1943 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Roy Grooms and Mary Etta England Grooms.

Danny Grooms was the definition of an honest, steadfast, hardworking, God-fearing man. He was more than dependable, someone who was always there for you. He showed these qualities throughout his life over and over. His life began humbly, working with his father and brothers in the tobacco fields, they worked hard learned life lessons together.

He raised his own family with the firm loving choices of a good parent. He would tell his son Danny “You can do this with a whoopin’ or without a whoopin’ but either way, you’re gonna do it.”

Danny worked happily alongside his father and brothers for 40 years farming tobacco. Finally, after retiring from farming, Danny spent 15 years tending the grounds of Maury Regional Medical Center. When the day’s work was done, Danny always loved to fish and hunt. He especially enjoyed catfishing with his brothers and deer and squirrel hunting with his son. No matter what size it was, the first catch of the day always went into the live well.

Danny also enjoyed spending time with his family cheering on the Braves or Volunteers when they were playing. And boy did Danny like to eat. After any homemade meal, he would say with a smile, “That was the best I ever had.”

Danny attended Porters Chapel Methodist church his entire life and was baptized and married there. Danny spent 57 years with his wife Doris Faye Grooms and together they raised a family that was everything to them. He did everything for them that he could, instilled work ethic, and doing things the right way, strong faith, and what it means to be a good man. Danny is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
