Mr. Jack Thomas Alderson, age 83, and a resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 1, 1940, in Shady Grove, Tennessee, Jack was the son of the late William James Alderson and the late Martha Elizabeth Shelby Alderson.
He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. On December 12, 1966 in Ringgold, Georgia, he married Linda Elizabeth Townsend, who preceded him in death in 2017. He retired from Union Carbide after 27 years of service. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and car racing. He was a member of West 7th Church of Christ in Columbia.
Jack is survived by his children, Kimberly Lynn (Brian) Hopkins and Kevin Thomas Alderson, sister, Mary Jane (Ricky) Holcomb, grandchildren, Amanda (Robbie) Sanders, Taylor Hopkins, Thomas (Kaitlin) Hopkins, Jessica (Danny) Quirk, great-grandchild, Josephine Quirk.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Edward Alderson and William “Bill” Alderson, and his beloved Chihuahua, Harley, of 20 years.
A private graveside service was held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rick Points officiating at Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation was held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.
