Mr. Jerry Thomas Scroggins, age 76, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born August 9, 1945, in Maury County and was the son of the late Enos Mitchell Scroggins and the late Georgia Lena Scroggins.
He worked in oil fields when he was younger and then became a self-employed painter. He was co-owner of J & S Painting.
He was married to Joyce Fay Givens “Tootsie” Scroggins, who preceded him in death in 2021. His life revolved around her. They did everything together. He was a member of Pentecostal Church of Christ of Columbia. Jerry loved to be a jokester and was always picking on people but would do anything for anyone. Most of all, he loved his family and will be missed.
He is survived by his children, Johnny (Tammy) Mitchell, Bubba (Sandra) Mitchell, Sam (Jeanne) Scroggins, and Burrhead (Teresa) Scroggins all of Columbia; sisters, Betty Lou Pruitt and Becky Hight; grandchildren, William Mitchell, Randy (Hannah) Mitchell, JT Mitchell, Shane Mitchell, Casey Scroggins, McKenzie Mitchell (Kenneth Martin), Megan (Brad) Miller, Morgan Mitchell (Quin Bullock), Casey Mitchell (Mike Simpson), Sasha (Derek) Dollar, Paige (Matt) Gillian, Haley Scroggins, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Jerry is preceded in death by his siblings, Troy Scroggins, Enos Scroggins, Maudie Mae Morton, Albert Scroggins, Doris Ann Martin, Mary Ruth Newcomber, and Laura Mae Scroggins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service hour.
Pallbearers will be Shane Mitchell, JT Mitchell, William Mitchell, Randy Mitchell, Jerry Wayne Scroggins, and Kerry Lee Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Johnson, Punkin Johnson, David Pruitt, Gary Pruitt, Jeff Scroggins, and AJ Boyd.
