John Louis Callahan, age 54, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024, at his residence.
John was born on March 21, 1970, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was the cherished son of the late Else McFarland.
He dedicated his entire career to the craft of automobile mechanics, working most recently at Reliable Auto Repair. A passionate supporter of football, John was an avid Tennessee Titans fan. An outdoorsman at heart, he reveled in the beauty of nature and was a remarkable craftsman who could build or fix anything.
Possessing a remarkable sense of humor and a kind heart, John also held a special love for his beloved pets, Marshmallow, Chai, and Luanne. Above all, his unwavering love for his family defined him, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who knew and loved him. John was a member of Church of the Mount in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Manning Callahan of Columbia, TN, stepdaughter, Evangeline Manning of Spring Hill, TN, siblings, Karen (Michael “Moose”) Moosman of Virginia, Michael (Lisa) Callahan of Pennsylvania, Barbara King of Georgia, Lynn Turner of Virginia, and nieces and nephews, Breanna, Hannah, Davey, Rachael, April, Joseph, Ricky, Kaitlynne, and Zoey.
A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Paul officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
