Johnny “J.R” Thomas Ragsdale, age 60, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 9-10:30 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born December 24, 1960, in Maury County, Tennessee; Johnny was the son of the late James Ragsdale and the late Emma Jean Hill Ragsdale. He graduated from Columbia Central High school in 1980. Johnny was his “Momma’s Baby” and was a man who liked to keep things simple. He loved listening to Elvis, watching Nascar, the University of Tennessee, and Wrestling. He loved his nieces and nephews and they loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his brother: Randy (Janiece) Ragsdale; sisters: Donna Altobell, Carla Ragsdale; niece: Robin (J.P) Patterson; nephews: Jonathan Cothran, Matt Altobell, Jacob Altobell; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law: Stephen “Apple” Altobell.
Acting as pallbearers will be Jonathan Cothran, Tyler Cothran, Matt Altobell, Jacob Altobell, Danny Johnson, J.P. Patterson, James Morton, and Robert Mooningham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Baker and all of Johnny’s friends and family.
