Khodabhai K Patel, age 86, resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, September 12 at NHC/Columbia.
Funeral services for Mr. Patel will be at 3;30 PM on Monday, September 13 at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Born July 31, 1935 in India, he was the son of Kashidas and Jakuma Patel.
A life of an individual is characterized by their actions during their life. A few
words to characterize Khodhabhai’s life are hardworking, strong-willed, kindhearted,
and unconditionally loving. With the many hardships, mentally and
physically, he had faced during his life, nothing could change his determined
attitude. His heart was filled with giving. No matter what situation he faced, he was
always smiling. His smile was contagious. Both Khodhabhai and his deceased
wife, built the familial and cultural pillars of our values for which we take great
pride. A son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and a great
grandfather will be dearly missed.
The Holy Bhagavad Gita states, “Death is as sure for that which is born, as birth is
for that which is dead. Therefore, grieve not for what is inevitable.”
He is survived by his sons, Mahendra (Mike), Sudhir (Sam), Ramesh, and Sharad;
and their wives respectively, Sita, Manju, Alka, and Anita; grandchildren, Divya,
Chirag, Purnima, Mosam, Himani, Aayush, Darshana, Akash, and Hardi; and two
great-grandchildren, Jiya and Agniv.
