Lura P. Lindsey Brown Fitzgerald, age 90, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, at NHC Columbia.
Born on January 12, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Lura was the daughter of the late John Douglas Lindsey, Sr., and the late Ida Beatrice Cocke Lindsey.
She was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church. She loved flowers and cooking, and in her younger years, enjoyed sewing. Above all, she loved her family and her church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Delana & Clay Pruitt of Columbia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dorris Brown, second husband, William Lloyd Fitzgerald, siblings, Pauline Anderson, Mary Ellen Gibson, J.D. Lindsey, Jr., Dick Lindsey, Ann Brown, Jean Winn, Helen Jones Lindsey, Charles Baxter Lindsey, and grandparents, Jessie P. Dame Cocke and Charles Woodside Cocke.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Parkway Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Winn, Jimmy Pruitt, Dwight Faucett, Michael McKnight, Ricky Lindsey, and Clay Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will include the Ladies Joy Class at Parkway Baptist Church and the Board Members of Parkway Baptist Church.
