OBITUARY: Myron King Peck, IV

Myron King Peck IV, retired engineer, and manager with Monsanto Company and resident of St. Louis, Missouri died on July 13, 2021.

A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be conducted in St. John’s Churchyard, Ashwood in Maury County, Tennessee with clergy of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements in Columbia, Tennessee.

Born January 30, 1935 in Franklin, Tennessee, Mr. Peck was a son of the late Myron K. Peck III and Harriet Hill Pursley Peck, who survived the Great Depression by hard work, ingenuity, and family ties. In 1938, Mr. Peck’s family moved to Columbia, Tennessee where he graduated as valedictorian of the Columbia Central High School Class of 1952. He attended the University of Tennessee and received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Chemistry from Tennessee Tech. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, the Tennessee Society of St. Louis, and the International Turtle Club.

On November 24, 1962 in Columbia, Tennessee, he married Virginia Lee Lewis, a graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2011. They made their home in St. Louis, Missouri where his career with Monsanto Company spanned several decades. He also was a member of The Church of St. Michael and St. George, Episcopal, in St. Louis.

Survivors include two sons, Myron K. (Kristi) Peck V of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bruce Q. Peck of Bradenton, Florida; six grandchildren, Myron K. Peck VI, Tyler M. Peck, Will J. Peck, Kate L. Peck, Annabelle B. Peck, and Olivia Q. Peck; and sister, Alice P. Butcher of Columbia, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward V. Peck of Ellensburg, Washington, and Matthew J. Peck of Columbia, Tennessee.
