Nancy Kelley Grooms, age 81, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, left for her heavenly home on February 25, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Nancy was born on June 19, 1940, at Arrow Mines in Maury County and was the daughter of the late Senator J.T. Kelley and the late Dorothy Cole Kelley.

Ms. Nancy, as she was lovingly referred to by many, spent her working career as a lab technician for her brother, Dr. James B. Kelley. She was also a volunteer for Maury Regional Medical Center in recent years. Her hobbies included traveling, knitting, working puzzles, and reading. She loved dancing and was a member of the Duck River Squares. She also loved watching her grandchildren play sports.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Kevin Grooms, and brothers, Dr. James B. Kelley and Joe T. Kelley.

Nancy leaves to cherish her memories children, Michael (Lori) Grooms and Kelley (Steve Morton) Hubbell. Grandchildren, Ashley (Shawn) Stewart, J.T. (Lyndsey) Caskey, Dusty (Raqi) Grooms, Maggie Sullivan, nine great-grandchildren, aunt, Reda Grooms, sister-in-law, Martha M. Kelley, and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be J.T. Caskey, Dusty Grooms, Shawn Stewart, Daniel Kelley, Mike Dawson, Steve Morton, Hunter Stewart, and Kadom Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers include faithful friends, Lura Chennault, Elaine Hudgins, Helen McClanahan, Geraldine Fisher, and friends at Maury County Senior Citizens.
