Philip Byram Obit

Philip “Buddy” Byram, 68, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Born on September 2, 1956, to the late Hoover and Chessie Byram, Philip was a man of kindness, faith, and unwavering love for his family.

Affectionately called “Buddy” by his father during their cherished time working together in the wood shop, Philip carried the nickname throughout his life as a symbol of the bond they shared. A devoted member of the Savannah Church of Christ, Philip’s faith was an anchor in his life and a source of strength for those around him.

Philip also had a love for all things sports. He would call his family to talk to them about the latest game he just watched.

Philip spent much of his career in the grocery industry, where his dedication and warm personality left an impression on everyone he met. He also spent time living in Texas, building memories that shaped the person he was. Yet, his heart always remained with his family, whom he loved like no other.

Philip found his greatest joy in spending time with his daughter, Christi Stevens (Jarrod), and his grandchildren: Ava and Jaxon Stevens, as well as his beloved siblings: Kathy Maxwell (Barry), Jenny Campbell (Jerry), and Julie Neill (Thomas). His warmth and love extended to his wider family and friends, creating a legacy of compassion and care that will not be forgotten.

Now reunited with his parents, Hoover and Chessie. Philip’s memory lives on in his daughter, Christi Stevens; his grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life for Philip will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Shelton Neill officiating at Savannah Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to the start of the service at Savannah Church of Christ.
