Raymon Thomas Vaughn, 85, retired superintendent of Columbia Construction and resident of Columbia, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Springs Cemetery in Columbia. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born March 31, 1937, in Columbia, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jessie Edward Vaughn and Miriam Corley Vaughn. He loved to fish, loved feeding birds, loved operating heavy equipment, and tinkering. Mr. Vaughn tried to spend every minute with his loving wife of 57 years until her passing in 2016. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Ray Vaughn of Columbia: grandsons, Thomas Mitchell Vaughn (Amanda) of Lafayette, Tennessee, Jeremy Ayers of Springfield, Tennessee; sister: Naomi Pope of Culleoka, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta Gail Ayers Kennedy, brother, J.D. Vaughn, and sister, Catherine Edmiston.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas Ray Vaughn, Scott Pope, Mitchell Vaughn, Tim Hardison, Chris Hardison, Stephen Hardison, Andrew Hardison, and David Edmiston.
