Richard “Ricky” C. Pickard, Jr., age 43, resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Fresh Start Recovery Church located in Saint Luke United Methodist Church at 606 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, with Pastor Dedra Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 3, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to start of the service at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on November 26, 1978, in Franklin, Tennessee, Ricky was the son of Annie May Parks of Columbia, and the late Richard C. Pickard, Sr. He was employed by Teledyne Industries in Lewisburg. An avid outdoorsman, Ricky loved hunting and fishing. He could often be seen sporting his camouflage jacket and a baseball cap. Ricky also enjoyed wood working and was always quick to lend a hand when someone needed help, whether it be working on a house project or building a float for a Christmas parade. To know Ricky was to love him. He loved to laugh and especially loved making others laugh. His laid-back, easy-going nature gave him the ability to make people feel comfortable and at ease in even the most uncomfortable situations. He considered himself a simple, country boy, but those who knew and loved him, knew he was a special person with a heart of gold.
In addition to his mother, Ricky is survived by daughters, Savannah (Christian) Powell and Jessica Graham, both of Columbia; sister, Becky (Mike) Woodard of Columbia; nephews, Keith Arbuckle and Reid Bassham of Columbia; Aunts and uncles: Barbara Pickard of Columbia, Donald (Karen) Pickard of Indiana, Harold (Hilda) Pickard of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Pickard of Hampshire, Sandra Pickard of Columbia, Hassell (Ann) Campbell, Jr. of Columbia, Jimmy (Sherry) Campbell of Columbia, Billie Jane (Jimmy) Whitehurst of Murfreesboro, Joan (Gary) Thronberry of Columbia, and Melody (Pat) Thomas Adams of Murfreesboro. A host of cousins and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Pickard Sr., and his grandparents Harold and Viola Pickard, Viola Jones and Hassell Campbell, Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will include Bear Stanfill, Hunter Pickard, and Shaun Moore.
