Rickey Eugene Davis, age 67, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on October 27, 1956, in Maury County, Tennessee, Rickey was the son of the late Rickey Eugene Davis and the late Mary Jones Davis.

Rickey was a very faithful and dedicated Christian that enjoyed playing gospel music. He was a very gifted bass guitar player with a heart of gold that showed his talent with his church family and choirs around the community. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He had a true passion for reading with his favorite author being James Patterson. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Vernal Jones Davis; sons, Rickey Davis (Katrina Christmom) of Columbia, Darwayne Mosley of Texas, Archie Jones of Oakland, California; daughter, Veronica Jones of Oakland, California; brother, Juan (Karen) Davis of Mt. Pleasant and Timothy (Allison) Davis of Knoxville; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Heritage Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

A lie in state will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com

Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Davis, Juan Davis, Darwayne Mosley, Thagget Polk, and Julius Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at VLS Armour. Flower bearers will be Trina Christmon, Brittany Williams, Kiliyah Jones, Tieara Epps and his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Davis.

The family wishes to first and foremost thank God for the time we had with Rickey, his dedicated church family, the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center, the dedicated employees he worked with at VLS and the many friends that were a part of his life.
