William “Buddy” Isaac Grooms, age 78, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born January 9, 1944, in Columbia, TN to James C. and Josephine Grooms.

Buddy graduated from Haylong high school in 1964. He played football and was a member of the FFA. He worked for Hall & Knox mining company. He delivered milk for Purity Dairy, worked as the foreman at Stauffer Globe Plant, was a maintenance supervisor for Maury County Schools, and drove school bus # 64.

Buddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandsons and great-granddaughter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Buddy is well-loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

Buddy leaves behind his wife of 58 years Laticia Ralston Grooms; children: Burgess (Joellen) Grooms of Watertown, TN, and Kimberly (Gary) Gray Joelton, TN; grandsons: Chance and Dylan Grooms; granddaughter-in-law: Maegan Grooms Gibson; great-granddaughter: Dolly “Sissy” Rae Grooms; sisters: Ann (Allen) Vandiver of Columbia, TN and Lisa Tate of Mt. Pleasant, TN; special great-niece: Megan (Hunter) Burnette; nephews: Horace Allen Vandiver, Jr. and Wayne (Janet) Vandiver; nieces: Tammy (Garry) McPeak, Brittany (Toby) Potts, and Keri Tate; and several great nieces and nephews.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Daniel Ray Grooms.

The family received friends Friday, November 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Services for Buddy will be held Saturday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN with Bro. Frank Webb and Bro. Monte McCanless officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TN. The family requests quests wear casual clothes to be comfortable.

Pallbearers will be: Wayne Vandiver, Hunter Burnette, Eric Hughes, Stephen Hughes, Steve Cox, and Billy Cowles.

Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Johnson, members of First Baptist Church, Employees of Maury County Schools Department of Transportation and Maintenance, Former Employees of Stauffer Globe Plant, Howard and Terri Mangrum, Donnie Boyd, Billy Bolton, Kerry Boshers, Roy & Joyce Cothran, Thomas Neely Edwards, Tim Huckaby, Alfred & Nancy Edwards, Wendell Spears, Ricky Seagraves, Charles McCoy, William Dunnebacke, Byron Jones, and Jimmy Owens.

The Grooms family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and techs of the ICU, Hospice & Caris of Maury Regional Hospital. A very special thank you to Dr. Charles Ball, Lisa and Keri Tate.
