William Sherwood “Bill” Wilson Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Columbia, TN.

Born March 31, 1950 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late William S. Wilson and Dorothy Dunkin Wilson.

He grew up in Maury County and graduated from Columbia Military Academy in 1968. He married the love of his life, Glenda Mabry Wilson, on January 25, 1969. Bill and Glenda shared 55 wonderful years together and were blessed with three beautiful children. Over the years, Bill worked at Monsanto, The Tennessean, and Landscape Management Company.

He was a former deacon at Friendship Baptist Church and a member at Porters Chapel United Methodist Church. Bill will be remembered for his faithfulness to God, lighthearted spirit, and deep love for his family and friends.

Bill is survived in death by loving wife, Glenda; one son, Derek (English) Wilson; one daughter, Jessica (Jason) Bolton; one sister, Virginia Jones; nine grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Bolton, Kristia Bravo, Jared Bolton, Kaelyn (Matt) Watters, Karina Bravo, Abbey (Tate) Whatley, Chandler Parker, Jace Bolton, Joey Bolton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by one daughter, Wendi Dawn Wilson; three sisters, Mary Hellen Woody, Nancy Mitchell, and Sherry Walker; and one brother, Tommy Wilson.

Bill’s celebration of life took place on Sunday, April 14 at 3 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home, 320 W 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401 with Pastor Eddie Watson officiating. A graveside service immediately followed at Friendship Cemetery, 2479 Culleoka Hwy, Culleoka, TN 38451. The family visited with friends Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to extend a very sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses of Maury Regional Medical Center, along with Madison Wilson and the staff of Caris Healthcare for the exceptional care they provided for Bill.
