On May 25th, 2023, Field Training Officer Nathan Wyrick responded to a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of a local fast food restaurant. While investigating the vehicle burglary, FTO Wyrick discovered a second crime of domestic assault that the victim disclosed.
Through a series of follow-ups, it was discovered that the victim had been assaulted by her boyfriend multiple times within the past two weeks. FTO Wyrick provided the victim with resources for domestic violence and ensured the victim had a safe place to stay with family members and friends to prevent any further assaults.
FTO Nathan Wyrick’s investigation of the domestic incident led to warrants being issued for simple domestic assault and aggravated domestic assault.
Because of his efforts, FTO Wyrick has been named as Columbia Police Department’s Officer of the Month for May 2023.
