Carolyn Ann Dowdy Peery

Mrs. Carolyn Ann Dowdy Peery, 78, a long-time resident of Mooresville Pike, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peery will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Elliott and Troy Dugger officiating.

Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born February 23, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clyde Dowdy and the late Lucille Wynn Dowdy. She was a graduate of Lawrence County High School, played for Ezell Quartet, and attended Vaughn’s Music School. She married Hugh Ervin Peery in June 1964, who preceded her in death on September 21, 2009. She was a former pre-school teacher at Craft Methodist & Highland Park Baptist. Mrs. Peery was a talented piano player, loved music, cooking, and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was strong in her faith. She attended Blue Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Regina Peery; sons, Byron (Robyn) Peery and Nathan (Elizabeth) Peery; grandchildren, Makayla Peery, Janie Peery (Garrett) Tallent, Katie Peery (Justin) Corbin, Adrianna Peery, and Libby Peery; nephew, Paul Dowdy; sisters-in-law, Kathy Dowdy, Judy Anderson; and brother-in-law, W.C. Johnson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Marcus Peery, and brother, William Dowdy.

Pallbearers will be JD Lineberry, Andrew Jordan, Benjamin Jordan, Jeff Harris, Ronnie Harris, Kevin Rose, Danny Auville, and Cam Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be anyone who was ever seated around her kitchen table.

The family suggests memorials be made to Cowboy Up, Inc. 604 North High Street, Columbia, Tennessee 38401, or Culleoka FFA, 1921 Warrior Way, Culleoka, Tennessee 38451.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Williamson Medical Center, Misti Johnson, and everyone who was a special part of her life.
