Charles Errette “Pop” Morton III, 82, passed away February 13, 2024 at his residence on Booker Farm Road in Hampshire Community of Maury County, Tennessee.
He was born on July 4, 1941 in the Isom Community of Maury County to the late Charles Errette Morton Jr. and the late Kathleen Whiteside Morton.
He graduated from Hampshire High School in 1959 and married Linda Carol Edwards on June 8, 1962. Mr. Morton farmed and also worked for Victor/ Stauffer Chemical Company for 44 years in the maintenance department. He was a member of The Local 912 Operating Engineers and a member of Kettle Mills Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Linda Carol Edwards Morton; four children, Charles E. Morton IV, Carol (David) Boyd, Christy (Jim) Payne, and Cheryl (Sean) Weatherford; brother, Benny (Brenda) Morton; sister, Nancy (Michael) Bassett; sister in law, Linda Williams Morton; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry K. Morton and infant twin brothers, Jon & Jan Morton.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his grandson Greg Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery in the Hampshire Community. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until time of the services at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
